The band’s second CD, Just What You Wanted, was produced by
Charles Newman at Mother West
in New York City. Newman’s credits include
work for The Osbournes (MTV), Newlyweds (MTV), Erykah Badu, The Davenports,
Kris Gruen, and the Empire Records soundtrack, among others. Newman
brings an organic New York sound to L.T.’s songs, and Just What You
Wanted breathes like a pop, urban singer-songwriter album should.
Pre-production for the CD was done by the band in various locations, and
then at Secret Sound in Baltimore, Maryland. From there, the project
migrated to Mother West in New York City, where recording was done in
several marathon sessions. Additional recording was done at other
studios in New York and Baltimore, and the record was mastered by
Tom Rogers in Toronto, Canada.
Lyrically, Just What You Wanted shies from no topic, and dark themes
occasionally shatter, yielding to shining rays of hope. The songs’
subjects include desperation, remorse, perversion of religion,
sexual tension and even abortion. Eclectic instrumentation and sing-able
choruses appropriately complement the lyrics throughout.
Just What You Wanted can be purchased at our live gigs, from
The Mother West Store,
from CD Baby, and now at The iTunes Music Store.
Sound samples can be listened to on our Sounds page.
Check out the Sights page for photos from the New York
recording sessions!
The song Digging a Hole will be featured in the upcoming indie film,
Soulmates, which will be released before the Cannes Film Festival.

Oh Say Can You See
|
|
On September 13, L.T. rocked Baltimore’s Camden
Yards, singing the National Anthem at the Orioles vs. the Boston
Red Sox. The evening’s events included a tribute to drummer Marty
Wachter’s late father, Jerry Wachter, who was the Orioles' team
photographer for 36 years. A portion of ticket revenues for the
evening went to support the JW Fund,
a cancer research foundation. The anthem was heard on
Baltimore radio, XM Radio, and was televised in Boston, where
sportscaster Jerry Remy (Rem-Dawg), paid compliments to the rendition!

Garage Band
|
|
We posted a pre-release version of the new song Rain to
GarageBand.com to get some feedback
about production issues and were delighted with the many positive
responses! The song was featured as Track
of the Day on November 2nd. It also has received "Most Original," "Grooviest
Rhythm," "Best Bass", "Best Programming," and "Chill-Out Track"
accolades as well.
Here are just a couple comments from the site...
This is flawless
Excellent - very original
Production is excellent. Everyone on the tune is talanted - very obvious.
I like the way this song boarders between grooving and rocking. It has some
pent
up energy that makes me want to dance to it...
Guitar player has extreme style, loved the harmonics in the intro...
Vocalist: very talented, original sounding voice. I think this voice
is one that could be recognized on the radio and not be confused
with other
bands...

Accidental Conversation
Great Reviews
|
|
Chesapeake Must Guide had the following to say about Accidental Conversation:
"’Good for Nothing’ rocks pretty good, and ’Weren’t We Wild’ has that anthemic quality that would make your night in a large arena. Ten songs, all uplifting, or at least righteous, even when the storylines cut like a knife right down to the bare bone (’Dad’)."
"Solid (as always) production from co-producer John Grant at Baltimore’s Secret Sound, and really good playing from the band."
"A very talented guy, John L.T. If you like the iconic Billy Joel, a little more at home, less in the bright lights of the city (except for ’Georgetown’), you’re going to like this CD. Well done."
Some other people have had great things to say about Accidental
Conversation
as well:
“McLoughlin is a true and pure talent, a delightful
departure from the moan and groan of disaffected youth that is omnipresent
in my CD player.
“‘Accidental Conversation’ comes across
like a classic East Coast pop/rock album. There’s an ease, experience,
and evolution that speaks across generations.”
—Heidi Drockelmen, Indie-Music.com
“Impeccable players appear on the record...Classic stuff,
timeless...He is a wonderful piano player, and it sounds like his voice
was meant to join a piano...He’s really something...This guy came
out of nowhere, but I’m glad he came...This is only the beginning
for this man and his music.”
—Susie Mudd, Music
Monthly Magazine
"Heard a few tracks in an art gallery and liked what I heard. Bought the
cd and had a chance to really listen-loved it. What a nice surprise to
find this kind of talent in Baltimore"
—"tzyna," CDBaby.com
“It is a great album...and he’s cute, too!”

Seen Us Live Yet?
Come On Out!

Haven’t made it out to see the John LT Band yet? Alan "Ace" Cooper
was one of many who have, and had this to say:
"Yep, a tasteful band, with tasteful players, doing great songs. Songs
that
were cool enough for the young and made those of us well into our 30s and
beyond, smile and remember what it used to be like and in the case of the
John LT Band, still is."
